Gastric Bypass A Sin?

In my constant quest for more information, I came across a web site where someone was saying that getting Gastric Bypass surgery was a sin. Of course, they offered no biblical reasons for this.

However, in my search for a scriptural answer...

Matthew 8:18
"If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire."

Since food has become a god to me, NOT doing something about it would be a sin. So thanks, but I'll follow the words of Christ over a self-righteous cultural busy body any day.
